Rear drive shaft containment loop: Scribner Welding has the best

Scribner Welding is a high quality, small fabrication and machine shop. It began only because of customer demand, and the love for cars.

I began building my own car parts in the 1960’s while working in various positions.  Draftsman, machinist, and equipment field mechanic. All of which have contributed to the expertise of the craftmanship we create.

Most of my education was in diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical, however, my first love has always been street rods and drag cars.  I was always building an engine or suspension parts for someone in the evenings.  It was quite a “hobby”.

In the 1970’s, I built tooling to narrow 12 bolts, and 9 inch Ford rearends.  In the mid 1980’s, I took a rearend that I had narrowed for my own use, to a swap meet. I was only looking to sell it. To my surprise, there were people all day long, asking questions. Most of them had never seen a TIG welded rearend. There was such extreme interest, and demand, that in January 1990, Scribner Welding was officially a business, specializing in Narrowed Rearends.

Acquiring the distributorship for Aurora Rod Ends in January 1997, we became Scribner Welding and Distributing.

I have more than thirty years experience in TIG welding, and have completed 1300+ narrowed rearends. The specialty continues to be with rearends. Our sheet metal housings have been referred to as  ”works of art”. Due to customer demand, we have also ventured into custom aluminum fabrication, suspension components, and driveshafts. We also deal heavily with axles and all parts pertaining to building rearends, and suspension components.

Scribner Welding is proud to be “the place to go” for fabricated parts and components for your special project. We thrive for customer satisfaction.

Some Tips For Winning At A Seized Car Auction

Bidding at a seized car auction is easy. Bidding and actually winning a car at a reduced price is another story. You may have heard it from a pal or overheard a conversation on the street where one was in a position to buy a car for $200. As Ridiculous sounding as it will be able to be, but this is 100% true. The question now is: Can you possess a car at this ridiculously low price? The solution is a resounding, “yes”. But how?

Before I reveal some tips, there is one important thing you should be conscious of: although not lots of people know about seized car auctions, these few (often, used car dealers) mean business. And when we say “business”, it means they are willing to wage a bidding war with anyone who wants the car really bad. And occasionally, the cost can think again your budget. Consequently, the initial tip you should know and must remember always is: stay on your allowance.

Set an allowance and stay on it. This will permit you not to overspend. Most car auction experts will advice you do to this as well; so better have one before you go to an auction site. Do your research about the car you want to bid. This does not limit you to the time you are on the lot but also while there is still time to shop on some web site or scan some magazine for detailed info about the car’s actual market value (that is, if you can view the cars on the lot in any case 1 day before the seized car auction date). Once you understand the actual market price of your chosen vehicle, set your budget a little lower. This is because not all vehicles at a seized car auction are in perfect condition or as a minimum, in a lucid driving condition. Save something for future repair expenses.

Another essential thing you need to remember is, do not settle for 1 vehicle. Make a short list of the cars can feasibly own. Not only it will provide you with more options and less frustrations when someone outbids you, it will likewise stop you from going over your allowance just to win something, which in this case, the only thing.

If you are participating on a seized car auction for the initially, you can be astonished how fast cars are bid and won. In a matter of minutes, the seized car auction is over and you will be missed with nothing to bid on. So, the best thing to do is to come early, inspect the cars, list down your chosen cars, and bid while preserving your composure. I say this because most first timers tend to get over excited with the quick pace bidding and they often end up owning a car on top of their set budget or owning a car that is higher than its actual market price.

It is very advisable to bring someone with you. A buddy who knows about cars is more than adequate. This way, you can invariably ask for quite a few objective advices about the cars you would like to bid.

Finally make sure that you bring enough money on a seized car auction. This may appear very obvious but many still fail to do so. All transactions should be finished right after the auction. So ensure that your pocket can pay for the amount of the automobile.

There you have it! Remember all these and you will for sure drive home the motor car at the amount you won’t regret.

Get Your Hands On A Police Impounded Cars

You don’t have to be a seasoned buyer or bidder to catch a police impounded car. A great amount of people with a small amount of or no experience actually come out of the police auction lot with a nice, road-worthy car that set them back for a few hundred dollars. Police impound cars are not inevitably old, rusty heaps. If you look hard enough, you’ll find one that might just be what you’re seeking.

How to get rolling

First, establish where the auction will be held and when. Local police agencies advertise their used or impound car auctions through newspapers and sites. You might in addition try calling your local police for details.

Arm yourself with enough details. You can’t really know what form of units you’ll be faced with face until you arrive or if you are bidding online, you might not arise close and personal with the impounded cars to judge their value, so better purchase a price guide for used cars like the Kelley blue book. This way you are able to checkout the car’s trade-in value so you don’t overbid.

Remember that you will not be the only one bidding for the impounded cars. There are other people like you, and then there are the pros, who can smell a good deal by simply looking at it. These people know that some really great deals can be had with police impounded cars and they are there to take a slice of the pie.

If you understand cars, then you may be certain enough to go at it by your alone, but if you don’t, best bring someone with you who can be of help to you look under the hood and separate the lemon from the pears, so to speak.

Subscribe to CarFax and bring your laptop or PDA with you so you can check the car’s history. This is not a requisite, but it’s a great idea to help you verify the impounded car’s background.

At the auction

It would be better if you could participate in a live auction yourself as you might actually see and inspect the cars yourself. Since inspection will take time, better arrive early so you’ll have time to investigate the cars and make your selection. Auction lots usually open early, but bidding starts a couple of hours after.

After you pay the nominal registration fee, get your bidder number. You can’t bid if you don’t have one. If you plan to drive the vehicle home just in case you win the bid, then bring your driver’s license, proof of insurance and get a short lived permit. These permits vary depending on your locality, so best check upfront.

Learn what the auction rules are. If you’re familiar with auction lingo, so much the better. Some police impounded cars can be had for no reserve price, which implies you can bid at a reduced price.

Don’t be shy about inspecting the cars or if someone’s available, asking questions. You will not be permitted to start the automobile, far less test-drive it. It’s your finances, so you better be certain you get its worth. Search for scratches, dents and evidence of repairs and flooding. Check the lights, mileage, oils, tires, bumpers and windows. You’re buying an ‘as is, where is’ police impounded car and if by any chance you get junk, you have not everybody to blame but yourself.

Get the impounded car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) and run it through CarFax. You’ll be able to get some very helpful info about its history, including its ownership and any accidents it may have been involved in. This information is a high deciding factor on your behalf. Sometimes you can be eyeing a nice, seemingly good condition car but a run through CarFax will show that it’s been in an unforeseen event and that it just got mended and polished up for auction to look acceptable.

Once bidding starts, be alert to the figures and how much you’re actually willing to pay for. Sometimes, in the heat of the bidding exchange, you could be able to get over excited and pay so more than the car’s market price. Remember that the purpose you came to a police impounded car auction is to get a car at dollars not up to its market price.

After you win the bid, don’t forget about the buyer’s premium which can go from 5 to 15% of the bidding price. A police impounded car you won at a $900 bid will cost you $990 on a 10% buyer’s premium. Plus, you don’t have any warranty on the motor car.

Police impounded cars could be a fantastic source of good to excellent condition used cars, but provided that you go in as an informed buyer. Know the risks involved and get as much information as you can.

A Short Guide To Find Great Automobile Auction Deals

Attending automobile auctions is a great way to find good deals on cars that have been seized by government entities if they were made use of in the commission of a crime or by private finance companies if the original owner was not able to make all of the repayments required.

Contrary to popular belief, attending car auctions is not a sure fire way to find a colossal array of automobiles being sold at below value. Quite the opposite, most vehicles sold at car auctions are inclined to go for their approximate value. Nonetheless, with careful research and planning, it is feasible to find cars at auction that sell under their blue book value.

Car auction attendees tend to fall into two classes. The first, and most common, is the interested novice who learn the auction in a newspaper or heard about it in a radio advertisement. Lured by the promise of under market automobile purchases, they head to the auction site unprepared and bid on any automobile that strikes their fancy. They typically either leave the auction empty handed or in an automobile that they paid far too much for.

The other sort of auction attendee is the one who does his homework and takes advantage of opportunities to look at the vehicles in the days leading up to the auction. This latter individual is much more probable to walk away from the auction either with a bargain or with zero.

The most significant thing to not overlook about car auctions is the following simple and often disappointing fact – the vast majority of cars sold at auction are sold at or above blue book value. This is surprising to hear since most television and radio advertisements for car auctions trumpet the vast savings that can be had.

Most individuals who attend car auctions are either used car vendors or savvy civilians. Most of them know exactly how much a car is worth, and many have deep pockets that can bid on all of the best deals. A few such individual can drive bids on all of the autos up to or beyond their actual value.

The sole method to come out ahead in a car auction is to be smarter than the other bidders. Remember that most of the autos on the auction block have been flooded, wrecked, stolen, or may have been mistreated in a number of various ways.

Any trustworthy car auction will make all cars on the block obtainable for inspection a few days before the auction. It is worthwhile to run a title check on any automobile that you are interested in buying. While the auction is supposed to run title checks as well, they are never entirely trust worthy.

The smart buyer will record then vehicle identification (VIN) number by themselves and run a title check later, or phone the VIN to someone and have them run the check for them. They are in a position to get faster facts this way and know rapidly whether to pursue the automobile further or look elsewhere.

By the time the auction commences, it is critical to know which cars the buyer is curious about and how much they are prepared to pay. The worst mistake that can be achieved at this stage is to get engaged in the emotional frenzy of bidding. If the amount goes beyond what the buyer wishes to pay, then no more bids should be made.

Choosing Between VW Repair Seattle Shops

If your Volkswagen is experiencing some problems, you should take it to a VW repair Seattle shop if you live within the area. The repair shops that can handle Volkswagen cars are few, and those that can perform these services well even fewer. In choosing which shop to take your Volkswagen to for repairs and maintenance, there are some things you can do to make sure that the shop you select will meet the high standards that Volkswagen cars require.

Before you formally start your search, it would be best if you read up a bit on car repair. You don’t need to gain an in-depth understanding of every moving part of your Volkswagen, but at the very least try to find out what could be causing your problem and what needs to be done about it. You need to do this because by knowing this information, you can judge a repair shop’s honesty. If you know that the problem is somewhere in the radiator, and then the shop tells you that the problem involves every other thing in the engine, then there’s a problem there. VW repair Seattle shops need to be upfront and honest to their customers, not squeeze out every single dollar that they can.

You need to drop by the shop itself to look at the facilities and the mechanics involved in the repairing of cars. The equipment they use should be the bet kinds, and the mechanics should show that they really know what they are doing when repairing and performing maintenance operations on the cars. More importantly, you need to see and experience the attitude of everyone involved in the repair shop towards their work. If it looks like they’re enjoying what they’re doing and display a genuine love for these cars, then your Volkswagen would be in good hands with them.

Estimates and check-ups are good indications of the performance of the VW repair Seattle shop. If the estimate and check-up are free, that is a good start. It means that the shop wants to help Volkswagen owners, and not just profit off of them. You can also compare the estimates done by different repair shops in the area, to see which one offers the lowest rates. However, do not think of only the cost – it would be best to spend a little bit more if that means you’d be getting much better service.

Lastly, ask for feedback from other customers in the area. If you see another Volkswagen car, casually ask the owner where he has it repaired or maintained. Usually, other owners are loyal to one repair shop, and they can tell you why. There might even be online forums for your area regarding repair shops for your Volkswagen. It won’t hurt to do a little internet research for the good treatment of your car.

Choosing a VW repair Seattle shop takes a little bit of work, but work that you won’t regret. Getting good service for your Volkswagen is more than worth it.

Harley Handlebars Ride in Style

Harley handlebars are very distinct. Not only because the whole bike itself carries the Harley Davidson logo but also because of its appearance. Jokingly termed as “Ape Hangers” or “Armpit Driers”, these handlebars can work well even if your bike is manufactured by another brand.

These high handlebars first came into scene during the 50’s up to the 60’s. The 1963 movie “Easy Riders” featured a Captain America motorbike that had handles such as this. Although they are stylish, some people find it harder to maneuver than the traditional handlebars. Because of its height, it is also more tiring for the arms. There are also several states in America that prohibits bikes that have handles over 15 inches above the seat. But then again, these known facts don’t stop bike aficionados from getting this type of handlebars for their motorbikes.

At www.harleyhandlebars.org, riders can find awesome deals, supplies, product reviews as well as assembly instructions. As a matter of fact, motorcycle aficionados can have these handlebars tailored to suit their bikes looks and design. The people behind this great website are more than willing to assist you in recreating your motorcycle’s look by simply adding Harley handlebars.

Just make sure that everything is properly assembled or adjusted according to your preference or your motorcycle’s capacity. Keep in mind that when you are driving any wrong move can cause damage or worst; it can even cost your life. So if you opt to ride in style, it is still best to be careful and vigilant especially when you are driving.
